CD 317 CHAMBERS, Deep Aqua; A darker Candlestick!
View:  Main (LargeView 2 (Large)
Lot 190: CD 317 CHAMBERS  Color: Deep Aqua  Description: Very minor wear on the base and very minor scuffing on the flange; perhaps this was used as a door stop. Typical factory annealing lines on the skirt, although, remarkably, there are none of the typical lines around the pinhole! Josephus Chambers patented "An Improvement in Lightning Rods and Insulators" on August 14, 1877 and this "Candlestick" insulator was used along with the "Chambers' Companion" (CD 132.4 as can be seen in lot 194) as part of his lightning rod system. They were both produced by the Hemingray Glass Company in Covington, Kentucky. The darker aqua makes for an attractive, bold color!
