Lot 51: CD 143 {Unembossed} {Canada} [030] Color: Light Aqua Description: This is a rare double-threaded Canadian CD 143. The double-threaded insulators are quite old, rare, and unique. In the early days of threaded insulators, there was no standard, and perhaps this was another attempt to standardize. There are several theories as to why these were produced, one being that since the pitch of the threads was twice that of a "standard" thread, it could be spun onto a pin with half as many turns, thus allowing faster installation. A double-threaded pin has not been found, and finding one might help corroborate one of the theories. This insulator also has the "mold line over the dome" (MLOD). A couple of 1/8" flakes on the dome, a 1/4" area of roughness, a 3/8" bruise on the base. [UPDATE: These can be seen in view 3 and view 4] Otherwise, about very near mint. A tough double-threaded piece to acquire! Estimate: $400 - $500 Open: $1 Price Realized: $2,365 |
