Lot 140: CD 728.7 {Unembossed} [010]  Color: Light Blue Aqua  Description: This insulator has a slotted pinhole that was patented by Samuel Oakman. A wedge was designed to fit into the top of the pin so that the more the wedge was pressed into the pinhole, the more the pin expanded into the slots, making it harder to turn and harder to remove. As a testament to the effectiveness of the invention, you can occasionally find an insulator with a broken-off section of a pin wedged into the pinhole that you can't remove. The idea never caught on; these insulators are infrequently found and very desirable. 3/8" skirt flake, some dings here and there. A nice example of this odd patent!
