Lot 131: CD 435 {Unembossed} {England}  Color: Light Straw  Description: On August 24, 1988, the consignor wrote to Marilyn Albers, the expert on foreign insulators. She replied that his insulator was the same as hers and extremely rare, and that, including his, only three were known at the time. These were found in England. "It is definitely from England," she says. She writes, "What's the value? Based on what others are charging for rare pieces today, and realizing how scarce the 435 really is (and it is more rare than the Buzby, of which there are 4 known), I'd put a value of $3,500 on the CD 435 in mint condition." Later on, they were produced in England and exported to Uruguay in South America. They can be found occasionally. However, this one has the special pedigree of being produced and used in England, as Marilyn confirmed. A little flake on the crown, otherwise very near mint. We'll lower the estimate from her $3,500 price and see what value people place on it.
