Lot 91: CD 190 AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. [010] Color: Aqua w/ Unbroken Window Description: This is a very rare piece! The top of the pinhole has not been broken out. Some call it a "glass slug" but later patents called this a "window." Clearly this unit has never used, as the "window" has to be broken out to go on a pin. As a side note, that's why the tops of the CD 190s always have some roughness and chipping, as the glass had been broken out. Only a handful of these are known, and most are embossed HEMINGRAY. "TWO PIECE/TRANSPOSITION" is prism-embossed in letters less than 5/32" tall, and "AM.TEL.& TEL.CO" appears to be prism-embossed as well, with letters nearly 1/4" tall. 3/8" fisheye on the mold line, a 1/4" x 1/2" flake on the front skirt and a similar one on the rear skirt. But everyone will be looking at the unbroken "window" on the dome. If you are an advanced transposition collector, this rare piece is a "must have" for sure! Estimate: $200 - $300 Open: $1 Current Bid: $85 |
