Lot 79: CD 162 H.G.CO. [070]  Color: Royal Purple  Description: This is the rich, desirable Royal Purple signal that you always hear about! One can easily see why! A little ding and a 1/2" square lightning flashover area. Perfect drips. [UPDATE: View 3 shows the lightning flashover. Note in order to see it, it has to be front-lit at the right angle. We turned it this way for the photo. When it is backlit, you can not see it. What happens is that the glass is superheated for just a fraction of a second, and the surface melts; when it cools, it leaves a slightly rough area that is level with the surrounding glass. No glass is missing.] [UPDATE: Note that when taking the picture for view 3, the light has to be right over the area, and every small amount of texture is magnified. You can compare this with view 4, just looking at the area of embossing. You can see the texture of the glass and how the embossing stands out. Just wanted to put the level of detail shown in view 3 vs a typical part of the insulator lit the same way.] A standout color, and one of the best you'll find, especially in this excellent condition!
