Lot 46: CD 143 {Unembossed} {Canada} [030] Color: Light Aqua {Double Threaded} Description: The double-threaded insulators are quite old, rare, and unique. In the early days of threaded insulators, there was no standard, and perhaps this was another attempt to standardize. There are several theories as to why these were produced, one being that since the pitch of the threads was twice that of a "standard" thread, it could be spun on with half as many turns, thus allowing faster installation. A double-threaded pin has not been found, and this might help corroborate one of the theories. 1/2" square chip on the wire ridge, some roughness around a quarter of the base, and some pings and dings here and there. A special piece for the CD 143 collector! Estimate: $300 - $350 Open: $1 Current Bid: $110 |
