Lot 113: CD 262 COLUMBIA [010] Color: Aqua Description: The insulator hobby has nicknamed this style "Baby Columbia" as it was sold under the trade name "Columbia." It is significantly smaller than the regular-sized CD 263 "Columbia" which is shown in lot 114. The "tie eyes" design was patented by Samuel Oakman on May 12, 1891 and makes for a unique style of insulator. Although the patent mentions "one or more eyes", the patent drawing shows the insulator with just a single "eye". 1/2" area of flaking on the right upper ear and a 1" chip at the base of the threads. This "baby" is much less common than the larger CD 263 style; they will look great together on a shelf! Estimate: $125 - $150 Open: $1 Current Bid: $190 |
