Lot 105: CD 207.5 {Unembossed} [010]  Color: Aqua  Description: This is a recent find pulled out of a bayou in Louisiana! This is only the second one known in Aqua and the third one known of this CD style. The size is deceiving, as it towers nearly 1/2" over a CD 145. The design was patented on August 19, 1902 by Theodore F. King from Nashville, Tennessee. Later, a mold for this style was patented on March 15, 1910 by Linas P. Roberts from Muncie, Indiana (where the Hemingray Glass Company is located). A number of shards have been found at the Hemingray dump, and this certainly looks like the Hemingray Aqua coloration. Thus, it is very likely to have been made by Hemingray! Hemingray collectors, are you listening? This is another attempt at a "no-tie" design where the wire would drop down into the slot, and when the insulator was rotated 90 degrees, it would lock the wire in place. Given that arrangement, one can imagine there was some rubbing and flaking on the projections. There have been 3 small repairs on some flaking on all these projections. Unfortunately, only about half of the base is original. There is an arc-shaped repair on the rest of the base, generally on the rear. There are some dings and scuffs here and there, probably from being buried in the mud. While one may want an example in better condition, this may be the only example you will have the opportunity to own!
