Lot 67: CD 143 CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. [080] Color: Light Aqua Description: This is one of the "Withycombe" styles. Frederick Withycombe patented a number of variations on ridges and other projections, all with the same intent: to better "withstand the impact of foreign bodies" and thereby reduce the likelihood of breakage." One wonders why they bothered to engrave the mold "CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO." and then engrave the ridges on top so that you can barely see the name. This example of a "Withycombe" insulator has vertical ridges on the dome and left-hand spiral ridges on the skirt. A little damage to the ridges on the skirt, 1/4" open bubble on the base.
