Lot 95: CD 158 PATENT OCT 15, 1872 Color: Blue w/ Milk EIN: [010] Description: This is the much less common {three segmented threads} variant which is a CD 136.7 with an inner skirt. On October 15, 1872 Samuel Oakman was granted two patents for improving the plunger that forms the insulator threads. One created threads with three segments and the other created four segments. During the molding of this insulator, a large impurity in the glass at the base caused both 1" and 2" fractures and a 1/4" base chip. Some little pings and dings and flakes, consistent with being dug. A desirable insulator for the Boston Bottle Works collector! Estimate: $800 - $1,000 Open: $1 Price Realized: $352 |
