Lot 95: CD 134 DIAMOND P  Color: Fizzy Light Lime Green  Description: 1" chip/repair to the rear of the right mold line, otherwise very near mint. A neat 3/4" bubble can be seen in the rear crown, and apparently there was an additional air pocket when the plunger was inserted, creating an elongated pinhole. This example is noticeably taller than typical units and has a wider wire groove. It is likely that the "P in a diamond" logo refers to James Pennycuick, who designed a unique method for "forming screw threads on glass" while leaving the plunger in place during annealing. The date of his patent, August 11, 1885, is embossed on the rear. A few milk wisps, along with the fizz in the glass, give this piece some extra character!
