Lot 5: CD 176 WHITALL TATUM  Color: Clear  Description: 1" lower wire ridge chip in rear, otherwise very, very near mint. Leon T. Wilson patented this design in 1925, calling it a "low loss insulator." Whitall Tatum produced small numbers of these reportedly experimental insulators, and they were tested in New Jersey along with other insulator styles to compare their insulating performance. From the front, the insulator displays perfectly. This is a unique shape and a difficult CD to acquire as they rarely come up for sale. The classic "Mushroom" is a must for the CD collector!
