Lot 192: CD 317.5 CHAMBERS  Color: Aqua  Description: Easily very near mint, with just a couple of little BB's on the bottom and a ding on the side. There is a 1" open bubble on the flange at the left mold line, as can be seen in the photo. Nicknamed the "Bell Chambers", this style, along with the CD 124.5 "Wing", compose the "Poor Man's" Chambers lightning system. Apparently most purchasers went for the "deluxe" set of the CD 317 and CD 132.4, because the "Poor Man's" set is much rarer! The lightning system was patented by Josephus C. Chambers on August 14, 1877. This insulator is a beautiful shade of Aqua, a much darker color than the pastel shades usually encountered. The "Bell" Chambers is only occasionally offered for sale, so buy yours while you can!
