Lot 159: CD 182 DRY SPOT  Color: Straw  Description: About very, very near mint. 1/2" annealing line on the dome. These insulators were used to terminate a wire in the "dry spot" between the inner and outer skirts. The area was filled with a non-conductive substance (such as tar) to make a water-tight seal and protect the wire. The design was patented by Rufus Gould in 1929. Another "must" for the CD collector!
