Lot 5: CD 130.1 CAL.ELEC.WORKS  Color: Rich Dark Cobalt Blue  Description: "Most Desirable Insulator" as voted by members of ICON in a poll managed by Dwayne Anthony. Some chipping on the damage-prone flutes and the base. The standout color grabs your attention, and the unusual and rare design add to its desirability. Don't pass this by! The CD 130.1 was used along the first long distance telephone line. The line was installed in the late 1870s by the Ridge Telephone Company between French Corral and French Lake, both in California. Its purpose was to provide telephone communication in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for the hydraulic mining industry. (#2498)
