Lot 197: V.H. & T.B., N.Y. Insulating Legs  Color: Clear  Description: Collectors thought these may have been insulating legs for a large battery cabinet or table, however research has discoverd a company advertisement showing them as legs for a table or bench from which someone might operate a large electrostatic machine. The legs are solid glass and are 11 1/2" tall and about 1 3/4" in diameter, where the top 2" is threaded. A little scuffing on the base and some flaking on the threads from use. Some bubbles float around inside the glass. Embossed "V.H. & T.B., N.Y." Collectors were unsure what the embossing meant but additional research has determined it is for the Van Houten & Ten Broeck Co. of New York, and these intials appear on many interesting pieces of medical apparatus in the early 1900's! The set is sold as one lot. An interesting atypical go-with!
