Lot 196: Dry Spots {Poland}  Color: Metal w/ Composite  Description: This is a very odd combination of two dry spot insulators from Poland. The photo shows an example of a pair in situ in the mountains of Poland. What appears to be the outer "insulators" are metal! The bent iron rod, where the wires attach, is cemented into the metal shell. The holes in these are where the line wire is attached. Hex head caps on the top of each "insulator", as seen in view 3, can be removed so you can connect the wires that run into the station to the outside wires. The "cross arm" is actually a hollowed out box, as seen in view 2, where you can access the wires coming into the station. The wooden box is 15 1/4" long, 3 1/2 deep and 5 1/2" tall. The "insulators" are 6 1/2" tall. This is the only known example in collectors' hands. Quite a complex and unique piece of hardware for the go-with collector!
