Lot 201: Cast iron insulator pin  Description: This is a heavy cast iron pin and cap, over 6" tall and 3" in diameter. The circa 1800s pin was purchased from an antique store in Tombstone, AZ in February 2000. Research indicates there are only two of these known. It was reported that these were used on the military fort-to-fort lines in the 1870s. This pin was probably originally used on the military line through Benson, AZ. According to the records in the Benson Museum, there were additional branch telegraph lines running south to the big copper mines in Bisbee, AZ. This is certainly a rare and desirable pin with some interesting pedigree!
